Casement Windows

What are Casement Windows?
Casement Windows boast the best energy efficient window style. Also referred to as a ‘crank’ window, casement windows allow a sleek style to will improve not only the amount of light let into your house, but curb appeal as well.

The Casement Window will come in at an amazing 0.26 U-Factor! Why do you ask? Very simply, the window seal on Casement windows is the tightest of all the windows. The “crank” handle seals up the window against air much like a submarine seals up the cabin against water.

Not only is it the most energy efficient window, but on the flip side, it will open a full 90 degrees to allow the most air flow through the house and allows the most visibility. Which makes it a perfect window for folks who like the view from their house.

What are the disadvantages to Casement Windows?
The Double Hung Window dominates the St. Louis window market, but our friend the Casement is trying to make a come back here in St. Louis/ St. Charles. The issue many people have with Casements is they are slow to open. And many customers associate the casement window with breaking parts and/or simply just not being able to open their window. Great Lakes makes an amazing product and will stand behind their parts; therefore this never becomes an issue. One significant drawback is the cost as Casement windows do typically have a higher price tag than Double Hung Windows.
